DEUM COLE, REGUM SERVA

Welcome to my site!

So what is that Latin phrase up there: Deum Cole, Regum Serva?

It's the motto that goes with the family crest. I do think the family motto is quite funny. It means "Honor God, Serve the King". Since the family name is COLE, it is a pun. It is the only family motto that I've ever seen that contains a pun. Knowing my family as I do - it fits. No one should take this family too seriously.

I don't have Facebook. I've never been comfortable with a content provider that has no problem intercepting your information so that others can't see it, and can dictate what you see. At the same time they keep asking for more of your personal information. They admit they have a dossier on all members with the information you knowingly and unknowingly provide, and they make money selling it. I wonder if they change it. As the founder said, "If you don't want us to have your information, don't become a member."

I'd rather do my own thing instead. I don't know how you found this site, but I am glad you're here.

So - this site emphasizes my genealogy. It will be ever-expanding, and if you know of any additions or corrections, please email me!! Welcome to any cousins who might be reading this!

I'm also adding pages with my own interests, and current news.

What's on my agenda this month?

I am into fitness - not quite a fitness nut, but I do have experience with personal trainers, good and bad. Weight training (resistance training) is so important, and I hope I can be an example to other women - I really think that women have so much misinformation about weight training. I'd like to be an example to younger women and especial to those who are my age - it's NEVER too late!! Last year I was able to lift 200 lbs off the ground, and I'm still working my way up to 250. It's tough; it will take everything you have, but the endorphins are incredible, and it sets you up to lose all the weight you want.

You still have to do the cardio, but walking on a treadmill (with an elevation of at least 6.0) for as little as 20 minutes a day (every day) will lower your resting heart rate and give you basic stamina. It's a cumulative effect - you have to keep doing it. I worked up to an hour a day, which is helping me lose about a pound a week. It's not easy; getting up and getting to the treadmill is sometimes the LAST thing I want to do. But doing this every single day builds up over time and makes it a habit - one that's hard to break.

What is on my radar this month?

Putting this website together and adding information to my Moody Blues fansite.

I'm still looking for the right job. I took the wrong job a couple of years ago, and I'm in the process of correcting that right now.

I'm going to dead lift 185 this month

MY MOTTO:

WE ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS HAVING A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE

WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS HAVING A HUMAN EXPERIENCE

I firmly believe this, that we are eternal. What better way to spend eternity than to experience the various forms of life in this (and every other) universe?

ON TV THIS MONTH

I cut the cable cord a few years ago so I don't have any local TV. Through my Roku device, I have Hulu, (Amazon) Prime video, and Netflix, along with any other "channel" (app) that is available - local radio does the trick in the morning. So much cheaper, and I can see what I want, when I want.

Roku will also play local media on your computer! You just need to set it up. I have my favorite movies all lined up. I just have to figure out how to get the TV shows in a format that is about the same as the Netflix/Amazon/Hulu form, by season and episode.

Here are my top three shows this month:

1. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D - Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logics Division - based on the Marvel Comic Movies (Ironman, Captain America, Thor, etc), this is very entertaining. Some of the characters were a little over the top at first, but it's really good sci-fi right now.

2. LUCIFER - This show is also based on a comic - Lucifer is the ultimate punisher of bad guys. He kinda got tired of it (no appreciation) so he's chasing bad guys on Earth right now and handing them over to law enforcement. It's a different light. It also gives "I LOVE LUCI!" a whole new meaning.

3. ORVILLE - Hulu stopped showing the currect episodes halfway through the first season. But it's really good.

I have seen a few good shows over the years, and I keep watching them - if they are not on streaming media, I have the DVDs.

Here are my top four shows of the past:

1. FIREFLY - I still can't believe they cancelled this show - the SciFi/Western had a lot of promise

2. FLASH FORWARD - The one season that was produced was VERY good - edge of your seat stuff. Binge-worthy from the people who gave us LOST. However, I don't think they knew where to take it after that, so the one season is just right.

3. LIMITLESS - A very worthy successor to the movie, and Bradley Cooper appeared in several episodes. Good guy or bad guy, we won't know - because they cut it off after one season. Too bad, the star of the TV show was very good - anytime I sit and ask myself existential questions because of a TV show, it is worth watching.

4. JERICHO - Wow! Post apocalyptic light. About a town in western Kansas when the bombs go off. It lasted for 29 episodes, but they were able to wrap things up nicely at the end.

I'm still pursuing my interests in GENEALOGY. It's going a lot slower now, because I have acquired quite a few books about my own family, and wow! SO MANY PEOPLE!! I have to find time to get them all documented, let alone put them up on the website. Sorry peeps!!

That Non-Scottish family that I've been investigating for the past few years? Still non-Scottish.

My brother Howard has been gone for seventeen years now. It is still rough, I sometimes still cry because he would have loved all the nifty gadgets, the speed of the Internet, the development of software. When I hear a new theory of the Cosmos, I wonder if he would have agreed or disagreed. It's a moot point; he knows it ALL now.

Howeed, we miss you and we still love you.

Thought for the month:

IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO HAVE A HAPPY CHILDHOOD

MORNING PRAYER

DEAR LORD,
So far today I've done all right. I haven't gossiped;
I haven't lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty or overindulgent.
I have not whined, cursed or eaten any chocolate
I have not charged anything on my credit card or bid on items from E-bay
I'm very thankful for that.
But in a few minutes, Lord, I'm going to have to get out of bed.
And from then on, I'm going to need a lot more help.
AMEN
